Samento (Pentacyclic Alkaloid Type Uncaria tomentosa) is a powerful medicinal plant that has been successfully used to treat Lyme. Some of the most beneficial properties in Samento are the POA’s or Pentracyclic Oxindole Alkaloids. These have a powerful modulating effect on the immune system and are wonderful in autoimmune disorders. The TOA’s (Tetracyclic Oxindole Alkaloids) found in traditional Cat’s Claw can disrupt the body’s central nervous system function and inhibit the effects of the POAs. Cat’s claws are more of an immune stimulator. Samento has been used for 2,000 years by indigenous people in Peruvian rainforest.
It's an immune modulator, which means it helps to balance the immune system, making it great for autoimmune disorders. This means it helps to modulate the immune system which can help prevent the immune system from over- reacting. Samento is excellent as a remedy for a variety of gut issues such as: IBS, Crohn’s, Colitis, etc. as many of these have their roots in microbial imbalances such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or candida. Samento is also great as a natural anti-inflammatory and works well for reducing pain in conditions such as arthritis etc. It’s excellent for helping with kidney health and helping eliminate UTI’s and is powerful against all types of parasites such as rope worms.

Finally, Samento is great against Lyme disease and different types of co-infections such as Bartonella and Babesia. A study done by Dr Eva Sapi showed that Samento by itself is very effective in helping the body eliminate the spirochetal form of Lyme bacteria.
When Samento was combined with the herb Banderol, the study showed that it eliminated all forms of Lyme disease (spirochete, cell wall deficient, and cyst). Both of these together or separately were either more or as effective as traditional antibiotics in treating Lyme bacteria in vitro.
