Millions suffer in the US from heart disease. In fact, there’s about 531 million ppl who deal with heart disease. This number has increased dramatically since 1990 when there were about 271 million patients with reported heart disease.  Heart disease is also the number one cause of death in the United States for both men and women. In fact, about every 33 seconds someone dies from a heart attack, and one in five deaths in the US are from heart disease.  That’s an estimated 695,000 people (stats from 2021) which is a staggering number!

Heart disease can have a number of contributing factors some of which include: diabetes, high cholesterol and smoking.

Fortunately, there are some great supplements that one can add to their daily regime along with a healthy diet and exercise that can help to prevent and encourage heart health!

Stats:

With millions of people suffering from heart disease, it’s vital to maintain heart health for longevity and a healthy life. With that in mind, here’s some symptoms that could be related to heart health. If you start to exhibit these symptoms or have them on a consistent basis, it’s best to pay a visit to your practitioner to rule out any heart issues. Some symptoms of heart disease are:

  • Heart/chest palpitations

  • Dizziness

  • Fainting

  • Problems catching your breath or shortness of breath (dyspnea)

  • Tightness in the chest area

  • Edema (swelling)

Again, these are symptoms that could be related to a variety of conditions and not just the heart, so it’s vital to talk to your doctor and get checked out if these symptoms are occurring.

Here’s some important Stats to know concerning Heart Health and Heart Disease:

  • An estimated 18.2 million adults, or 6.7% of the U.S. adult population age 20 or older, have coronary artery disease.

  • Approximately six million American adults have heart failure. This number continues to increase due to aging of the population.

  • More than one in three adults has at least one type of cardiovascular disease. Nearly half of them are age 60 or older.

  • Fifty-one percent of heart procedures are performed in those age 65 and older.

By Gender

  • By ages 60 to 79, 70.2% of men and 70.9% of women have some type of cardiovascular disease. By age 80 and above, that increases to 83% of men and 87.1% of women.

  • Heart disease is the leading killer for both men and women.

  • Heart disease accounts for one in every five female deaths and one in every four male deaths.

  • Fifty percent of men who die of coronary heart disease did not have any previous symptoms.

Some Causes of Heart Disease?

So, what are some causes of heart disease?

I mentioned previously that smoking, high cholesterol and diabetes are potential factors. However, there are other potential causes such as:

  • obesity

  • insulin resistance or diabetes

  • high cholesterol and blood pressure

  • family history of heart disease

  • being physically inactive

  • smoking

  • eating an unhealthy diet

  • clinical depression

Other contributing factor could include: an unhealthy lifestyle habits such as lack of exercise, consistent unhealthy dietary habits, chronic stress, and consuming large amounts of alcohol.

7 Ways to Support Heart Health

Besides eating a healthy diet for the most part, drinking water, managing stress, and engaging in exercise at least a few times per week, these are seven suggested ways that can help prevent heart disease and aid in a healthy heart.

Carnosine:

Studies have shown that carnosine has powerful properties which can support overall body health including cardiovascular and kidney systems. Carnosine is an amino acid found in large quantities in the muscular and nervous system. It is provided mainly through the diet. Studies have shown that besides benefiting diabetes and neurodegenerative conditions, that carnosine also has wonderful heart protection properties. Studies share that carnosine

One way to help boost carnosine naturally in the body is found in Lifewave's Y-Age Carnosine Patch. In a pilot study done, individuals from ages 19-83 wore the Carnosine patch 3x/week for 2 weeks, 12 hrs. on and 12 hrs. off. The results of this study concluded the "improvement in the physiologic functional status of the pancreas, liver, right kidney, left and right adrenals, hypothalamus, pituitary and thyroid glands with an average statistical power of at least 95%." ~ completed-CARN.pdf (lifewave.com)

X 39

Lifewave's X39 phototherapy patch is breakthrough technology in the science of stem cell regeneration. This technology is patented with many years of research and studies behind it.

As we age the stem cell production in the body declines, making it harder for the body to heal itself and increasing the aging process. By signaling the body to activate its own stem cell production, X39 encourages the body to heal itself, turning back the hands of time.

Plant Sterols:

Sterols are naturally present in our food such as in grains or nuts. They are heart healthy as they can help with the reduction of cholesterol that you get from food. They are also available in supplemental form. Check out this great product from Thorne that is loaded with beneficial plant sterols for both cardiovascular and immune support.

Coq10:

Co q 10 or ubiquinol is naturally occurring enzyme produced by the body. However, the body only produces this in small amts, and so supplementation may be necessary. Co q 10 is thought to help with lowering blood pressure and is also sometimes prescribed by doctors to help offset any side effects of statin drugs as unfortunately, statins have the potential to lower the amt of coq10 the body makes.

Fish Oil We’ve all heard of fish oil for the heart, and with good reason. Fish oils are a part of a group of good fats called essential fatty acids. These types of fats are essential for good health and must be supplied by our diet. Good fats can include things like coconut oil, flax seed oil, acai berry, borage oil, primrose oil, and of course fish oil. Fish oil has omega threes which can help cut unhealthy fats like triglycerides “up to 30 percent!" They are also good for blood pressure health; you can get fish oil in your diet through supplementation or through eating fish. Make sure however when you eat fish that is from a clean source and not bottom feeders like flounder. Some Good types of fish to eat are fish like, cod, salmon, haddock, mahi mahi etc. Another great source of omega’s is from OHS Optimal EFA’s, which are from plant sources.

Garlic

We love Garlic! In our foods, pizza’s, spaghetti, salads, side and main dishes and not only can it make a dish tasty it also is good for the heart! Galic is good for helping to lower blood pressure and also helps slow the progression of arterial plaque from clogging your arteries, which in turn can help lower blood clot risk. You can get garlic in both food and supplemental form. Both of which can help!

Cayenne:

Cayenne is a natural stimulatory for our circulation system with powerful benefits. The powerhouse in cayenne comes from capsaicin. This substance has multiple benefits besides circulation. Some of the benefits are listed below:Cayenne supports the heart and circulatory system. It acts as a stimulant, helping your heart to beat more strongly and improving circulation. It is also currently being investigated as an agent to help reduce irregular heart rhythm.

  1. Cayenne has the unique ability to regulate blood pressure as needed, either increasing or decreasing it, as required.

  2. It’s anti-oxidant action lowers cholesterol and triglyceride levels and its active ingredient capsaicin triggers mediators that help reduce inflammation. As it travels through the circulatory system, it acts like a ‘Roto Rooter’, dilating the arteries and breaking up blockages and plaque.

  3. It strengthens the arteries and capillaries. When fatty deposits settle on the walls of your arteries, they cause the walls to harden. Cayenne, in sweeping the arteries, helps strengthen and improve elasticity of their walls.

  4. Cayenne’s anti-coagulant properties reduce blood-clotting tendencies. When applied topically, capsaicin (the active ingredient in it) cream helps stop bleeding. However, when taken internally, it helps discourage platelet adhesion. In other words, it thins thick blood, helping to prevent blood clots and strokes.

A great product that has cayenne pepper along some other great heart nutrient and can help clear the arteries and support heart health is CARDIO ND and Cardioven from Premier Research Labs

Heart health is vital for every function of the body and for overall health and well-being. Take care of your heart today by taking small steps in your diet, exercise, and supplement regime. Your heart will thank you for it!
